How to Wash Your Brushes in 36 Seconds or Less

So if you follow me on Instagram, you've probably noticed I am really loving Clean Brush. I went in blind a month or so ago and bought the 4 oz Rose Goat's Milk shampoo and the 4 oz Lemon Olive Oil. I love anything lemon, and anything rose. Lucky for me those are two of the scents available! I wanted to try out one of each option for formula comparison.

Fun fact: the Olive Oil one is vegan! Fun fact: the Goat's Milk is killer at brightening white fibre brushes! And best of all, these are all made with natural ingredients. No chemicalactisyphilochloridanicouside whatchamacallits all up in your brushes. So I fell in love instantly with these.

They make the task of washing brushes SO easy and fast. Like, stupid fast. Most makeup artists dread getting home from a job, knowing you need to go lean over the sink for ever getting all the grime out of your tools. Clean brush makes the process easier, and smell a lot nicer too. I just got my hands on some Eucalyptus Spearmint versions that are not for sale on the site. As soon as they arrived I broke those babies open to give my personal brushes a good clean. And thought I'd make a silly little video to show you just how awesome Clean Brush is! This is only the second video I have ever made, so forgive me. I'm a makeup artist, not a film maker! Enjoy!

Wrapping Up Summer: An Update

So the past month has flown by! The start of summer had me a little on edge as I didn't have a lot on my calendar. I always get a little nervous not knowing where income will be coming from. Let's be honest. I love what I do, and freelancing is more rewarding that any regular day job can ever be. But it is stressful! Anyway, things just started falling into my lap, keeping me busy leading right into ending summer with a bang working like mad during Fashion Week.

I'll have some photos to share soon from some of the shows I worked on, some beauty work, film, and look books here and there, along with some fabulous weddings I got to be a part of.  It's been a really wild last month, and I wouldn't trade it for anything.

In the midst of all this, I have been working with a wonderful graphic designer on creating a mark for myself. I was inspired to get the ball rolling on this as I realized I haven't been proud to hand out a business card in over three years. YEARS. And with my two-year New York-iversary quickly approaching, I couldn't justify another bulk order of so-so cards "just for now." So I got in touch with graphic designer Nathan Black  to create something for me that was long overdue, that could stay with me for a long time. We worked together to go over what I had in my mind, what I wanted to represent me, and how he could utilize his skills and eye for detail to create that perfect look. I couldn't be happier to show it off, across all platforms of the web, social media, business cards, invoices, etc. I've already added it to my website, and cards are in the works as well. Check out Nathan's take on the process  (he sums it up much better than I), and be sure reach out to him if you have been considering taking yourself, your craft, and your business to the next level!

My Work Up On TeenVogue.com!

On a lovely Spring afternoon in the West Village, I spent some time with Geminola boutique doing makeup for their shoot. Some of the photos are up on the Geminola site, but recently Teen Vogue also featured a video from the afternoon!  I was delighted to work with actress Lola Kirke again, as we spent lots of time together on the set of a film last fall. It was also great working with Jemima Kirke (who you might recognize from HBO's Girls), Domino Kirke (who performed the song you hear during the video), and model Jazzy De Lisser. The girls wanted really fresh, natural makeup & hair so that's exactly what we did!  The stand-out pop of color is on the lips in the form of NARS Satin Lip Pencils. Lola & Jazzy are both wearing Majella, Jemima is wearing Palais Royal, and Domino is wearing Rikugien. Enjoy the video, and head over to Teen Vogue website to read the little snippet. Just wish my name was in there! :)
